Margaret Lois Bell, age 45, was found stabbed to death in her home in Robeson County, North Carolina, on December 4, 1996. Her case remained unsolved for nearly three decades until advancements in DNA technology led investigators to re-examine evidence.
In April 2021, a DNA sample was obtained from Kenneth Delton Locklear through a search warrant. In February 2025, law enforcement identified Locklear as a suspect based on DNA evidence and arrested him on February 14, charging him with Bell’s murder.
As of the latest update (2025), legal proceedings are ongoing, and Locklear is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
